Dr Aoife Lane is Head of Department of Sport and Health Sciences in Technological University of the Shannon (Athlone Campus).  Aoife is lead of the SHE Research Group, which aims to bridge the gender data gap in sport, health and exercise science research. Aoife supervises PhD projects on participation in sport and physical activity, the role of sporting role models in promoting sport, supporting the female athlete and on equality and leadership in sport.Aoife is Chair of the Gaelic Games Sports Science Working Group who have developed a
framework for sports science for all stages of the player pathway, inclusive of male and female players. Founder of the Women’s Gaelic Players Association (WGPA), Aoife was influential in the merger of the WGPA and its male counterpart, the Gaelic Players Association (GPA).
